Jambay Lhakhang Drub Jambay Lhakhang Drub is one of the most unique festivals of Bhutan. Most popularly due to the two unique portions of the festival namely - i) The Tercham or Naked Dance and ii) Mewang or the Fire Offering. Time of Jambay Lhakhang Drub The Jambay Lhakhang Drub or the Jambay Lhakhang Consecration festival is held every year on the full moon (the 15th day) of the 9th Lunar Bhutanese month which generally falls between late October and early November according to the Gregorian calendar. Venue: Jambay Lhakhang, Bumthang The festival is held at one of the most ancient temples of Bhutan- Jambay Lhakhang in central Bhutan, Bumthang. History on Jambay Lhakhang The construction of the temple dates back to the 7th century. It was built by the Tibetan Emperor Songtsen Gampo in his mission to build 108 such temples over the Himalayan region to spread Buddhism. THIMPHU FESTIVAL

  Like all  festival in Bhutan , the  Thimphu Festival  or Thimphu Tshechu is not simply a festival conducted for entertainment .  Thimphu Festival  is a series of sacred events choreographed to promote happiness and has Buddhist teachings embedded in the dance. The locals believe that witnessing this festival would wash away their sins and ultimately help them to cultivate an enlightened mind. During the Thimphu Festival , thousands of people gather at   Tashichho Dzong  . Earlier Thimphu Festival was conducted inside of the courtyard but now due to the increase in number of spectators , it is conducted outside the courtyard to accommodate them. Prior to Thimphu Festival, another short Festival (Lhomo Dromche) is held on the honour of protective female deity Palden Lhamo(Wisdom Mother/Maha Kali). During the Lhamo Dromche ,21 female protective deities are assembled for the entire two week prayers. The ritual intention is to liberate all the sentient beings from their sufferings.
